Comic Geeks @ Kaisen 4 mission a success!

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Geek Mission Control is pleased to announce that the mission to Kaisen 4 Entertainment Fair was a complete success. The convention, organized by the awesome team behind, broke attendance records from previous Kaisen cons. It was well organized, full of people and fun was had all around.

When we went to Kaisen 3 back in April, we barely had a month’s worth of comics. Nobody knew who we were or what we were doing there, some people even stared at us as if we were freaking aliens. This time around, our fans were there waiting for us. It was really awesome for people to come by our table to tell us how much they enjoyed a particular comic strip or how the first thing they do every Sunday is to check out our comic.

It is for those little moments that we continue to work hard week after week.

During the convention we worked on a comic strip (which you shall see next Sunday!), got interviewed by a T.V. crew and handed out inscription forms for our new Be A Geek Contest. The response was outstanding. We are even considering calling the Xara people for an endorsement deal, since many graphic artists that were watching as we worked on the comic bombarded us with questions about the software were were using to draw.

From all of this, my favorite moment was when a fan asked us for our autographs. I wish to thank that fan for thinking us important enough to sign a comic for him. It was a really nice feeling,  made us all warm and fuzzy inside.

You can check out some pictures from the event at our Facebook page or at our MySpace corner.

Geeks: As Seen on T.V.

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Almost a month ago, we took our little comic strip to the Kaisen Entertainment Fair and met fans of all ages. We all had a blast meeting and greeting, and even created a comic strip live during the convention. During the con, the crew from MechaHumano came by our table and interviewed Pete (Rick and Germán automatically run away when they see cameras. In fact, in the video you can actually see Rick trying to hide :P …). It was a short interview, and Pete was caught completely off-guard without his usual make-up people and his team of speechwriters, but we think it came out alright.

Well, the episode containing the short interview is online, and you can watch it after the jump. The whole thing is in Spanish, but if you don’t speak Spanish, you’ll still be able to giggle at our expense. Once again, thanks to the MechaHumano team for the time!

You can watch the episode by clicking here. Our five seconds of fame are during the final third of the video.

Webcomic Beacon Says We’re “Awesome”

Friday, July 17th, 2009

The fantastic netcast produced by the staff at The Webcomic Beacon recently featured The World According to Geek in their Impressions section, a moment in the show where they look at particular webcomics and give their feelings and opinions on them. Their impression of TWATG was very positive, calling us “awesome.” We loved their reaction to our URL, which regular readers will know is completely intentional, with host Tanya calling it “the funniest ever.” We have to agree with that.

They also praised our weekly titlebar, something we three are extremely proud of. One detail that warmed our hearts was that they seemed to “get” us. Unlike more famous webcomics, like Penny Arcade, which mainly focuses on gaming, TWATG isn’t easily boxed into a genre. It is really about three guys and how they live their geeky lives. So, one week the comic can be about gaming, the other about relationships and the next about how hard it is to be a parent. All framed from a particularly geeky world view.

The hosts did offer some constructive criticism with the art, something we are always working with and really appreciate any feedback on. Needless to say, we will take their suggestions to heart and strive to continue to make our art better and better.

We would like to thank the staff at The Webcomic Beacon for featuring us on their netcast. It made our day to know that you guys enjoyed our work.

You can download this specific episode here. And, if you enjoy webcomics, remember to listen to the Webcomic Beacon’s netcast regularly. It’s a blast.

When Rick Met Chase Masterson

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Some of you might remember that, a couple of weeks ago, Rick went to the big Star Trek convention in Las Vegas. There, besides totally geeking out, he got to meet quite a few Trek celebs, including one of our personal favorites, Leeta herself, Chase Masterson. Well, it seems that Ms. Masterson got a wind of our very small tribute and a bit of our comic is now proudly posted on her personal website. You can check it out here.

Thanks, Ms. Masterson! We’re truly honored!
